Between Puglia and Basilicata
Let yourself overwhelmed by the smell of the freshly-baked bread and the colour of the sky during the sundown on the Stones…. A real picturesque voyage to experience!
In this tour between Puglia and Basilicata you will visit two complementary cities: Altamura and Matera.
The first one, Altamura, is considered the birthplace of the bread, and it’s the right destination to discover the ancient art of the wheat processing, which is handed down from one generation to another.
But that’s not all! this city, nestled in the ravines, has a big importance for those who love ancient history. In fact, there are more than 400 dinosaur footprints.

This city is called the "Lioness of Puglia" because it was able to defend itself from Borbonis invasion. Altamura owes much to Frederick II, who gave the actual name to this city. The Cathedral represents the emblem of the city, built up in honour of Assunta.
One of the oldest cities of the world, with proofs of human settlements since the Paleolithic times. The City of Stones developed from the natural caves digged in the rocks of two big amphitheaters which are the Sasso Caveoso and the Sasso Barisano.
