Bari has always been disputed by many rulers, among wich: Lombards, Byzantines, Romans, Normans and for a period of time it was occupied by Muslims. That’s the plot of traditions and religions that determines the future of this city.
The region capital is, moreover, the homeland of Saint Nicolas and it’s the place where it is buried.
